Medicaid

These programs are an integral part of the Maryland / Virginia Departments of Health, providing access to health care services for many of their State’s low-income residents. Individuals may be eligible for services through the Maryland Medicaid Program, the Maryland Children’s Health Program or the Maryland Pharmacy Assistance Program, or Virginia’s First choice services depending upon income and other factors. What Is The Medicaid Personal Care Program? The Medicaid Personal Care Program provides assistance with activities of daily living to Medicaid recipients who have a chronic illness, medical condition or disability.

WAIVER FOR OLDER ADULTS: FACT
Low-income adults may be legible if they are:
– At least 50yrs of old at the time of application
– Meet all technical and financial criteria for Medicaid eligibility
– Can choose to receive service at home or in an Assisted Living Facility.

THE LIVING AT HOME: COMMUNITY CHOICES WAIVER: PURPOSE
To provide community services and support to enable people with physical disability to live in their own homes.

REM WAIVER
The Rare and Expensive Case Management (REM) Program is a case managed fee for service alternative to Health Choice Managed Care Organization (MCO) participation for recipients with specified rare and expensive conditions.
REM Program is limited to individuals with certain qualifying conditions or diseases.

AUTISM WAIVER
The Autism Waiver through Medical Assistance will allow eligible children with Autism Spectrum Disorder to receive additional waiver services to support them in their home and community.

IMPORTANT: To be a waiver participant, an individual must be medically qualified, certified for the waiver’s institutional level of care, choose to enroll in the waiver as an alternative to institutionalization, cost Medicaid no more in the community under the waiver than he or she would have cost Medicaid in an institution, and be financially eligible based on their income and assets.
